AMP is the North American brand of Underpinner Machines, Double Mitre Saws, Flexible and Hard Points and V-Nail Fasteners.
Our History
AMP as a company started in the late 80’s in North America as a distributor for Alfamacchine, an Italian based manufacturer of frame joining machinery, V-Nail fasteners and framing points. The AMP name was chosen as it stands for Alfamacchine Products.
In the late 1990’s Illinois Tool Works (ITW)-NYSE acquired AMP’s North American business and became a business unit under the ITW’s corporate umbrella. Illinois Tool Works Inc. is a Fortune 200 company that produces engineered fasteners and components, equipment and consumable systems, and specialty products.
In 2005, ITW purchased the founding company in Italy, Alfamacchine, and began to improve and expand the market share for the company products worldwide. During that period, both AMP and Alfamacchine grew significantly in the picture framing and woodworking markets and today have a commanding share of their core markets.
In 2012, The Fletcher-Terry Company purchased the worldwide businesses of AMP and Alfamacchine and merged them under the Fletcher Business Group, bringing frame joining solutions worldwide to a large segment of end users across an array of applications in picture framing and wood working industries.
Products sold under the AMP brand include frame joining machinery, double mitre saws, framing points and the company’s Power Twist™ V-Nail Technology.
